Guidelines to be followed from Nov. 16 to 30 issued; public gatherings banned

Director General of Health Services Dr Asela Gunawardena has issued a set of guidelines effective from November 16 to 30 on public & work-related activities where several restrictions have been eased.
According to the guidelines, public gatherings, meeting & events are prohibited until further notice unless prior approval is obtained from Director General of Health Services.
In addition, several restrictions have been eased.
Accordingly, gyms can be operated at 50 percent of the capacity, which was 30 percent earlier while tuition classes are allowed to conduct with 50 percent of usual capacity only for O/L and A/L classes.
The capacity that can be accommodated at cinemas and theatres has been increased from 25 to 50 percent at a given time.
Besides, workplaces can function as usual while preschools can also be operated with full capacity adhering to health guidelines.
Talking about the restrictions, only individual worshiping is permitted at places of worship while only seated passengers are allowed in public transport.
Meanwhile, no changes to the restrictions imposed on weddings, which is maximum 1/3 of usual capacity of the hall not exceeding 100 persons is allowed while 150 persons are permitted when the function is held outside with no liquor served.
The restrictions imposed on other activities remain unchanged to the guidelines effective from November 1 to 15.
